A Whimsical Summer Wedding: Shelby & Joe

As wedding venue owners and planners, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting countless weddings, each unique and beautiful in their own way. But every now and then, a wedding that is so amazing and creatively inspired leaves a lasting impression on everyone involved. Shelby and Joe's wedding was one of those for us. From start to finish, their wedding weekend was vibrant, colorful, heart-warming, and so much fun.

We had a blast planning the design aspect of Shelby & Joe’s wedding weekend. On their original mood board for their day, Shelby & Joe put a ton of color, an Aperol Spritz, and this little box that I kind of latched onto that had a Wes Anderson color palette on it. It was a unique spin on the colorful wedding palette trend and we took it and ran with it. When BBJ Latavola released some new linen patterns, we were ecstatic! We found this one table runner that fit the Wes Anderson palette perfectly, and we knew we had to use it for the wedding.

At their mock-up, they showed up expecting white runners, but I took a leap of faith with the BBJ runners and they loved it. It was such a great mock-up! Shelby did have a brief moment of panic where she wasn’t sure if it was going to be too much with the bright florals & the bright tables, but I encouraged her to trust me, and none of us were disappointed.

Another aspect of their day that was so special was their escort wall. Shelby is a fifth grade teacher and both her and “Mr Joe”, as Shelby’s students affectionately call him, had become so close with her students this past year. She had her students answer the prompt “Love is….” and their responses were silly, insightful, but also pure and so beautiful. We’ve included a few photos below! Go take a peek :)

We loved working with Shelby and Joe so much not only because they were just so precious and so amazing to work with, but also because they were so trusting of our expertise and our ability to turn their vision into their dream wedding.
